Trainer Julio Canani said he was completely surprised to awake Thursday morning and see rain outside his hotel window. Canani would prefer firm footing for the March 28 Dubai Duty Free (UAE-I) on turf but was philosophical about the potential for a course with give to it.

Niconero charged home at a great rate to claim the Dec. 6 Kingston Town Stakes at Ascot again. And it was the same result, with the same jockey--Brad Rawiller--for the same trainer David Hayes, at the same price of 9-2.
