Kathy Walsh, one of the nation's most successful woman trainers, has been voted into the Washington Racing Hall of Fame for 2009. Jockey Lennie Knowles, 1961 Longacres Mile winner Sparrow Castle, and breeders Wilbur and Marianne Stadelman will join Walsh Sept. 13 at Emerald Downs.

Nany's Sweep Upsets Santa Monica; Surfside Third

Nany's Sweep, a 13-1 long shot ridden by Kent Desormeaux, rallied boldly in the stretch and caught Serenita in the final yards for a one-length victory Saturday in the grade I Santa Monica Handicap for fillies and mares at Santa Anita Park. Nany's Sweep ran seven furlongs in 1:22 2/5 on a fast main track and paid $28.20, $10 and $2.20. Kathy Walsh trains the winner for Budget Stable.
