Clement-Trained Pair in La Prevoyante

Jockey Edgar Prado gave Arthur B. Hancock's Owsley a fearless, weaving ride through the lane that was enough to produce a neck victory over favored Volga in the 59th running of the grade II, $250,000 New York Handicap for fillies and mares at 1 1/4 miles on Belmont Park's inner turf.

Tweedside Just Lasts to Win Sheepshead Bay

Tweedside held off favored Sweetest Thing and 13-1Golden Corona at the wire to win Saturday's $150,000 Sheepshead Bay Handicap (gr. IIT) by a nose at Belmont Park. The 4-year-old daughter of Thunder Gulch completed the 1 3/8 miles in 2:13.63 on a turf course rated "good."

Critical Eye Attempts Dirt-Turf Repeat in Sheepshead Bay

Herbert and Carol Schwartz's Critical Eye is entered in the $150,000 1 3/8-mile Sheepshead Bay Handicap (gr. IIT) on the Belmont Park inner turf course Saturday. The 5-year-old Dynaformer mare won last year's renewal of the race, which was switched off the turf and run on a muddy main track.

Kinane to Roll a Seven on Championships Day

All eyes will be on Michael Kinane when he rides the 3-year-old Galileo in the Breeders' Cup Classic on World Thoroughbred Championships Day. But Kinane will have six other bullets in his holster on Saturday, and he's pretty confident about the quality of his mounts. Kinane has had 12 previous mounts on Cup Day.

Striking Song, a son of Unbridled's Song training for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile, has been declared out of Saturday's race after sustaining a chip to his left hind ankle. The Robert Hess Jr.-trained colt has won one of four career starts, breaking his maiden at one mile in last outing.
