Jones No Longer With Walnut Green

Russell B. Jones Jr. no longer is working for the Walnut Green bloodstock agency that he and his late brother, Richard, founded in 1980. The Joneses sold Walnut Green to the Mark Reid Bloodstock Agency and partners in September of 2005, and Russell Jones remained associated with the prominent Pennsylvania-based business, serving as its president.

Gone West Filly Brings $3.8 Million; Keeneland Numbers Soar

Sheikh Mohammed of Dubai bought a Gone West filly for $3.8 million to top the Tuesday session of the Keeneland September yearling sale. For the two days, a total of 339 horses were sold for $131,250,000, a 30.5% increase over the $100,576,000 gross last year. The cumulative two-day average price of $387,168 reflected a gain of 45.1% and the median was up 35.3% to $230,000.

Winning Belmont Trainer: Making the Grade

Bobby Frankel has almost done it all as a trainer. He's won the last three Eclipse Awards as North America's top trainer to go with the one he earned in 1993. He joined the pantheon of greats while being inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1995. He now has a classic win in his back pocket as the result of Juddmonte Farms' Empire Maker's win in the Belmont Stakes (gr. I).
