Horse racing contest site DerbyWars.com announced June 30 it had reached partnership agreements with several tracks and racing associations that will allow the site to use those racing signals as part of its handicapping contests.
In the first agreement of its kind between a racetrack and racing contest site, DerbyWars will contribute revenue to Hawthorne Race Course and Illinois horsemen.
The Stronach Group and DerbyWars may be on a path to settling their pending lawsuit, according to comments made by each organization's officials Feb. 24 during and after a California Horse Racing Board committee meeting.
Stronach Group racetracks have filed a federal lawsuit against the operators of the daily racing contest site DerbyWars, claiming that the site is operating unlawfully in using Stronach track races.

A Super Derby day worth $1.3 million, a new Super Derby prelude day, Louisiana Downs champions day, and the richest prep race in the nation for the new Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf, highlight a stakes schedule worth more than $3.4 million at Harrah's Louisiana Downs in 2007. The racing season begins Friday, May 4 and continues through Oct. 20.

Racing can learn much from its partners from the casino business, a panel of analysts told a couple hundred participants Dec. 5 in the 33rd Symposium of Racing & Gaming in Tucson, Ariz.
