Gallant Son overcame a wide starting berth to win the $100,000 Inglewood Handicap (gr. IIIT) for his first graded stakes score April 25 on the turf at Hollywood Park.
In his final workout prior to the Breeders' Cup, Emerald Downs' prodigy Gallant Son smoked six furlongs in 1:12 on the Pro-Ride synthetic surface Oct. 19 at Santa Anita Park.

The first foal for Malabar Gold arrived Jan. 27 at Phil T. Owens' Houstondale Farm near Lexington. The chestnut colt, bred by Owens, is out of Time to Renew, a 14-year-old daughter of Time for a Change.

Their first prospect will be Malabar Gold, a son of Unbridled currently in training in Southern California.
Juddmonte Farms homebred Shibboleth jumped out to an early lead from the far outside post position under Jerry Bailey and never looked back en route to a two-length victory in Monday's Jaipur Handicap (gr. III) at Belmont Park.
Malabar Gold tracked pacesetter Astonished down the hill before rallying in the final strides to earn a head-length win in $138,125 San Simeon Handicap (gr. IIIT) at Santa Anita.
Malabar Gold will try to stretch his speed around two turns when he takes on Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT) champ Val Royal in Saturday's Frank E. Kilroe Mile (gr. IIT) on the Camino Real Turf Course at Santa Anita Park.
With odds-on favorite Malabar Gold fading to finish out of the money, there were some larger than usual show prices for Monday's San Simeon Handicap, the Santa Anita Park closing-day feature won by Lake William. In the other stakes on the program, Starrer posted her first career victory in the Santa Paula Stakes on the program.
