Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Open Sale Sees Declines

Trainer Barclay Tagg went to $50,000 on behalf of David Mahan for a Lion Hearted colt to top the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga open yearling sale held Aug. 14 in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. The auction realized declines in gross, median, and average from last year's event while selling three more horses.

Control System Shows She Can Rate in Cicada Win

Thomas McClay's and Harry Nye's Control System remained unbeaten in three starts and became a graded stakes winner Saturday at Aqueduct, overtaking front-running Golden Dreamer and going on to a 3 1/2-length victory in the $109,600 Cicada (gr. III) for 3-year-old fillies at six furlongs.

Numbers Drop at Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Winter Mixed Sale

As the mixed sale season comes to a close, the numbers decreased during the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic winter sale Feb. 7 at the Maryland State Fairgrounds at Timonium. Tanta Bertie, an 8-year-old daughter of Slew City Slew, topped the sale with a final bid of $80,000 from Erdenheim Farm.
