Millionaire Lazy Lode has arrived for stallion duty at Fred Alexander's A&A Ranch near Anthony, N.M.
TVG has announced that it will televise the $1.65 million Singapore Airlines International Cup from Kranji Racecourse beginning at 11 a.m. eastern standard time Saturday, May 12. The race will be shown on a tape-delayed basis, and there will be no TVG account wagering on the contest.
After spending the past weekend in Kentucky, Hall of Fame jockey Laffit Pincay Jr. will travel to Singapore this weekend to pilot Lazy Lode in the Singapore Cup.
Lazy Lode dueled with Eagleton through the early going before pulling away to win the $150,000 Arcadia Handicap (gr. IIT) on a yielding turf course. The win marks the second graded stakes win on the Santa Anita card for The Thoroughbred Corporation, which also owns Santa Anita Derby (gr. I) winner Point Given. The Thoroughbred Corp.'s Poetic also won the track's second race, an allowance race on turf, giving the stable three winners on the card.
Multiple graded stakes winner Lazy Lode tops a field of seven entered to the Grade II Arcadia Handicap at 1 1/8 miles on the turf. The Arcadia was run for the previous 13 years as the El Rincon Handicap. Lazy Lode will carry highweight of 121 pounds and will break from post position No. 2.
Bienamado drew away from pacesetter Vergennes in the stretch to win the $400,000 Hollywood Turf Cup Stakes (gr. IT) by three lengths on Dec. 2. With the win, Bienamado repeats the feat of Bien Bien, his sire, who won the 1992 Turf Cup.
Lazy Lode will seek a record third consecutive victory in the $400,000 Hollywood Turf Cup (gr. IT) Saturday.
John Toffan and Trudy McCaffery's Bienamado, unraced since a fourth-place finish in the Arlington Million Stakes (gr. IT) in August, returns to the races Saturday at Hollywood Park, where he will face eight rivals in the $400,000 Hollywood Turf Cup Stakes (gr. IT). Also entered in the 1 1/2-mile turf race is Lazy Lode, the winner of the last two renewals.
Lord Flasheart, Single Empire, and Perssonet each worked Sunday in preparation for Saturday's $400,000 Hollywood Turf Cup (gr. IT) at Hollywood Park.
