England's all-time great racehorse faces some restricted options as a sire.
Wintergreen Stallion Station announced Jan. 2 that Sean Feld, formerly of Spendthrift Farm near Lexington, has been named managing director of Bullet Train, LLC.
Bullet Train, an English group-winning half brother to two-time Cartier Award winner Frankel, will enter stud in 2013 at Wintergreen Stallion Station near Midway, Ky., for a fee of $7,500.
Khalid Abdullah's brilliant Frankel captured the QIPCO Champion Stakes Oct. 20 at Ascot, remaining unbeaten and securing his legacy as one of the best racehorses of the modern era and perhaps one of the greatest of all time.
Frankel took the lead from the start and never looked back, flying home to take the $468,000 QIPCO Sussex Stakes (Eng-I) at Glorious Goodwood July 27 by five lengths.
It wasn't quite as easy as his classic victory, but Frankel was able to maintain his unbeaten record with a three-quarter-length win in the $406,928 St. James's Palace Stakes (Eng-I) at Royal Ascot June 14.
Heavily-favored Frankel took the lead immediately at the start and never looked back, powering away from his rivals to win the QIPCO Two Thousand Guineas (Eng-I) at Newmarket by six lengths April 30.
Prince Khalid Abdullah's Frankel enhanced his already glowing reputation when he stormed home to take the Dubai Dewhurst Stakes (Eng-I) by 2 1/4-lengths at Newmarket Oct. 16.
Frankel turned in another eye-catching performance when he blew away his rivals to win the Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes (Eng-II) by an incredible 10 lengths at Ascot Sept. 25.
