With a top rating of 130, Japan-based Just a Way was crowned the 2014 Longines World's Best Racehorse during ceremonies in London Jan. 20.
Gentildonna brought a fitting close to her illustrious racing career Dec. 28 in scoring an impressive win in the Arima Kinen (Jpn-I), Japan's season-ending all-star race at Nakayama Racecourse.
Epiphaneia eagerly tracked the pace into the stretch in the Japan Cup (Jpn-I) Nov. 30, kicked away to a huge lead as the 18-horse field charged toward the line, and won by four lengths over Just a Way.
The barrier draw did nothing to hurt the chances of the already strong home team for the Nov. 30 Japan Cup in association with Longines (Jpn-I) as the European runners drew gates 2 and 18.
Thirty years after winning the first Breeders' Cup Classic, Wild Again is still relevant, counting high-profile runners Bayern, Just a Way, Fed Biz, and Vicar's in Trouble among his headlining descendants in 2014.
