Despite Saturday Ride, Dunkleberger to Miss Two More Weeks

Jockey Travis Dunkleberger will likely miss two more weeks of racing while recovering from a Feb. 9 spill at Aqueduct. Despite not having fully recovered, Dunkleberger rode Prized Stamp to a second-place finish in Saturday's Barbara Fritchie Handicap (gr. II) at Laurel Park.

Two Jockeys Injured at Aqueduct

Jockeys Heberto Castillo Jr. and Robert Villafan were hospitalized Friday after suffering injuries in a spill during Aqueduct's seventh race. Castillo's mount, Madame Viceroy B B, sustained a fractured left front leg and was euthanized.

A New Twist upset 3-10 favorite Forest Heiress by 3 1/2 lengths Sunday in the $100,000 Old Hat Stakes for 3-year-old fillies on a showery day at Gulfstream Park. In her most recent start prior to the Old Hat, A New Twist finished second to Forest Heiress in the Valley Stream Stakes (gr. III) at Aqueduct.

Jockey Puglisi Injured at Los Alamitos

Jockey Iggy Puglisi suffered several injuries in a fall at Los Alamitos Racetrack Saturday night. According to his agent, Richie Silverstein, 26-year-old Puglisi broke three vertebrae and bones in his right knee.

Chavez 'Day-To-Day' After Friday Spill

Jorge Chavez was tossed from Manorwood Stables' Whataboutus prior to the first race at Saratoga Friday, then rode the 2-year-old Clever Trick filly to a 2 1/4-length victory before taking off the rest of his mounts on the day. Chavez took off is Saturday mounts as well but may ride Sunday, according to his agent, Richard dePass.
