Barbaro Has 'Improved Significantly' After Latest Surgery

The chief of surgery at University of Pennsylvania's New Bolton Center said Jan. 15 that Barbaro had "improved significantly" after undergoing surgery two days earlier to remove more of the left rear hoof that has been impacted by a bout of laminitis.

Day four of Keeneland's marathon September yearling sale "might have been a little softer in spots," according to director of sales Geoffrey Russell, but business was still plenty good Thursday in Lexington, Ky. as the world's largest yearling sale rolled on. Overall, the gross revenue for the first four days is up 17.3% from last year's record sale.
