Innuendo Wins Second Straight Stakes in Orchid 'Cap

Under jockey Jerry Bailey, Gerald W. Leigh's 6-year-old homebred mare Innuendo stalked early leader Alybgood before drawing off in the stretch to win the $200,000 Orchid Handicap (gr. IIT) by 3 1/2 lengths, Saturday at Gulfstream Park. For Bailey, the win marks his 12th in a stakes on the current Gulfstream meet, tying his own record.

Gulfstream Park Report: A Subtle Upset

They are all far too diplomatic to mention it, of course. Both Bill Mott and Pat Day spent the better part of 20 minutes, after the Mott-saddled Subtle Power capitalized on a rail-skimming ride from Day to win the Feb. 10 Gulfstream Park Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. IT), denying that there was any special satisfaction that came from defeating Jerry Bailey on even-money Ciro.

Innuendo Wins The Very One Handicap

Irish-bred Innuendo won her first added-money event on North American soil in The Very One Handicap (gr. III) at Gulfstream Park Sunday afternoon. The Christophe Clement-trainee covered the 1 3/8 mile distance over a firm turf course in 2:13.62. Lucky Lune was four lengths back in second, with Silver Bandana 1 3/4 lengths back for third.

Prospectress Earns First Stakes Win in La Prevoyante

Eighth early on in the field of 10, Prospectress moved into contention on the final turn en route to winning the $150,000 La Prevoyante Handicap (gr. IIT) by a head over Innuendo Saturday at Calder. Under Jerry Bailey, Prospectress covered the 1 1/2 miles in 2:26.97 on firm turf.
