Australia's sole representative Mummify denied the proven international performer Phoenix Reach Sunday night to win the $1.8 million Singapore Airlines International Cup (Sng-I) in a thrilling finish. Unfortunately, American challenger Star Over The Bay broke down during the race and was euthanized.

Women were on top at Flemington March 12: Alinghi breezed in the Newmarket (Aust-I; Makybe Diva and Winning Belle ran one-two in the Australian Cup (Aust-I). After this combined display of Girlpower, Gai Waterhouse collected the other "Super Saturday" group I when Danehill colt Al Mahar realized his potential in the Australian Guineas.

The British Jockey Club announced Tuesday a first-ever bloodstock industry code of practice that spells out the right way to buy and sell horses. It means those who are found to have broken any of the eight guidelines, which take effect Aug. 1, could be punished.
