Stronach Stable's 4-year-old gelding Euchre took advantage of a fast pace in Monday's All American Handicap (gr. III) at Bay Meadows, running down Irisheyesareflying in the stretch to earn the $82,500 winner's share of the $150,000 purse for his 1 1/2 length win. 8-5 favorite Irisheyesareflying finished second, 1 1/2 lengths ahead of Moonlight Charger.

Happyanunoit Gives Frankel Fifth Gamely 'Cap Win

Favored Tranquility Lake received no respite from a pair of Bobby Frankel trainees in Saturday's $221,350 Gamely Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. IT) at Hollywood Park. After Frankel-trained High Walden took the front-running Tranquility Lake out of her game early on, stablemate Happyanunoit rallied in the stretch to win by a head. The win marks the fifth time a Frankel-conditioned horse has won the Gamely Handicap.

Gamely Boasts Quality Field

Tranquility Lake, never worse than second in seven tries over the Hollywood Park turf, heads a classy field of seven distaffers in Saturday's $250,000 Gamely Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. I) at nine furlongs. Owned by Mr. and Mrs. Marty Wygod, the Rahy mare captured the 1999 running of the Gamely by better than five lengths.

Irish Prize Wins Close Call in Fastness

Irish Prize came from off the pace to beat Timboroa by a neck and win the $110,400 Fastness Handicap (gr. IIIT) at Hollywood Park on Sunday. Ridden by Gary Stevens, Irish Prize covered 1 1/8 miles on the turf in 1:50.01 on the firm turf course and paid $5.60, $3.20, and $2.60 as the 9-5 favorite.

Trainer Robert Frankel, who's won three of the last five runnings of the San Gorgonio Handicap (gr. IIT) at Santa Anita, saddled a strong one-two entry in this year's renewal on Monday's Martin Luther King Holiday card, with front-running Dancingonice the perfect complement to stretch closer Uncharted Haven. CHRB Issues Another Complaint for Morphine Positive

On Thursday, for the second time in less than a week, the California Horse Racing Board issued a complaint against a trainer after morphine was found in a post-race test of a horse. The CHRB charged trainer Jesus Mendoza after Truesdail Laboratories reported a positive test for morphine in a urine sample taken from Golden General after the colt finished second in the sixth race at Hollywood Park on June 23.
