Breeders' Cup Connections Add Excitement to Kentucky Mixed Sales

If you enjoyed the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships, you'll get to relive some of the excitement during the upcoming mixed sales in Central Kentucky. Several runners who competed in the Breeders' Cup are scheduled to be offered during Fasig-Tipton's November select auction on Sunday, beginning at 4 p.m. (EST), and the Keeneland November breeding stock sale that kicks off Monday at 10 a.m. and runs through Nov. 18.

Amid continued high buyer demand, the expanded Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall Yearling Sale concluded Wednesday with the auction house posting across the board gains when compared to its two-day cataloguing last year. Held over three days, cumulative figures showed substantial improvement over the company's 2004 sale in gross, average, and median prices.

Fasig-Tipton Texas Sale Kicks Off Two-Day Run Monday

Like most yearling sales thus far this year, the 2005 Fasig-Tipton Texas summer yearling sale will be bigger than last year, and sale company officials are also hoping it will continue on an upward pattern. There are 545 horses catalogued for the auction, an increase of 33.9% over last year's figure of 407. The sale is conducted Monday and Tuesday at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie.

$3.1 Million Storm Cat Colt Lifts F-T Saratoga Sale

The lone Storm Cat colt in the Fasig-Tipton select yearling sale elicited a protracted bidding duel between a pair of racing titans Wednesday night which resulted in a final $3.1 million winning bid from bloodstock agent Demi O'Byrne. The sale-topping colt added to a session total of $16,890,000, which was good for an average of $324,808 and a median of $200,000. Sixteen horses were RNA'd, or 23.5% of the night's total.

New York-Bred Sale to be Televised

The New York Breeding and Racing Program, in conjunction with Myriad Productions, will televise this summer's Fasig-Tipton New York-bred Preferred Yearling Sales live on Time Warner cable Channel 3, which airs in the Capital region of New York State.
