Hawthorne Racecourse is geared up for its fall Thoroughbred meet, with 85 horses entered on the Oct. 4 opening day nine-race card. The meet runs runs through Sunday, Dec. 29.

For the second time in a week, Churchill Downs will raise overnight purses because of higher than expected all-sources wagering levels.
The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission on July 20 approved a request from Turfway Park to cut four Wednesday cards from its fall meet, reducing the meet from 20 to 16 days and all but one stakes race.
