CHRB Targets Offshore Gambling Advertisements

The California Horse Racing Board heard arguments April 24 on the issue of publications and radio shows in the state selling advertising to off-shore wagering operations. Residents of California are only able to legally bet through facilities licensed by the state, so wagering with offshore companies is in violation of state law.

Under the agreement, Timeform's ratings that use pounds as a measure of a horse's merit will be used in future Auction Edge books.

Daily Racing Form to Contribute to NTRA New York Heroes Fund

Daily Racing Form, whose offices at 100 Broadway were within a few blocks of the World Trade Center, is creating a charitable fund that will include the company's donation $1 for every newspaper it sells at Belmont Park on Oct. 27 for the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships.

Form Revives American Racing Manual

The Daily Racing Form has brought back the popular "American Racing Manual," according to an announcement from Steven Crist, editor and publisher of Daily Racing Form. The 2000 American Racing Manual covering the 1999 Thoroughbred racing season, is now available and the 2001 volume, detailing the 2000 racing campaign, is slated to be released in spring, 2001. The Form is offering 50 percent off the 2001 edition for those who order the 2000 edition, which costs $60.
