Baffert Looks for More From Congaree

Congaree won his last two races by a combined margin of 11 ½ lengths, but trainer Bob Baffert doesn't think they were the horse's best efforts. That should raise concern for Congaree's five rivals in Sunday's $250,000 San Antonio Handicap (gr. II) at Santa Anita for older horses at 1 1/8 miles.

Mile Preview (9/12): Steady as a Rock (of Gibraltar)

The announcement earlier this week that NetJet will sponsor the Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT) wasn't the biggest news concerning the World Thoroughbred Championship's grass event. Rock of Gibraltar's emphatic victory in the NetJet Prix du Moulin de Longchamp in France on Sept. 8 kept the European superstar right on target for a trip to Arlington Park.

Though it's still more than three weeks away, Del Mar's $1-million Pacific Classic (gr. I) on August 25 appears to be a viable prospect for Ren-Mar Thoroughbreds' Hollywood Gold Cup (gr. I) champion Sky Jack, trainer Doug O'Neill said Thursday morning.

"It's the same knee he had surgery on last September," Baffert said, "but it shouldn't require surgery this time. He just needs some time off."
