The Breeders' Cup and Oak Tree Racing Association announced June 4 that general admission tickets will be $10 on each day of the 2009 Breeders' Cup World Championships at Santa Anita Park, Nov. 6-7, in Arcadia, Calif.
Breeders' Cup Ltd. has issued a statement reaffirming its belief that negotiations can be completed so the 2009 World Championships will still take place Nov. 6-7 at Santa Anita as part of the Oak Tree meet.
Curlin, racing's $10 million horse, arrived at Santa Anita on Sunday, Sept. 28, and settled in at Barn 27. Assistant trainer Scott Blasi said that Curlin would probably make his first visit to the Santa Anita track Wednesday, Oct. 1.
Eight Hall of Fame jockeys - with combined earnings of over $1.5 billion from 49,163 victories - will compete in a pari-mutuel wagering event, "The Living Legends Race," on Oct. 18 during the Oak Tree at Santa Anita meet as a prelude to the following weekend's Breeders' Cup World Championships.
California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has agreed to chair the Breeders' Cup Host Committee, which will promote the 2008 Breeders' Cup World Championships, to be held at Santa Anita Park on October 24-25.
Santa Anita, which is scheduled to conduct this year's Breeders' Cup World Championships Oct. 24-25, could be selected as the site of the event again in 2009 when the Breeders' Cup board meets today, Thursday, Feb. 7.

Out-of-state average daily handle was up 18% over last year and average daily total handle for the meet was up 9%.
The Breeders' Cup World Championships will return to Southern California, where the event began in 1984, for its 25th running, Breeders' Cup Limited announced April 19. The two-day races will be held Oct. 24-25, 2008.
The 36th Oak Tree Racing Association meet ended at Santa Anita Park Sunday with an increase in on-track average daily attendance of approximately 9% and overall average daily handle increased by 1.5% from last season.
Excluding the record-breaking handle figures for the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships program, the Oak Tree Racing Association season concluded Nov. 9 with a slight decline in total handle and declines in on-track handle and on-track attendance.
The sun is shining brightly on Santa Anita as the early post time for the first race on the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships approaches. With the races in California, the television viewing time necessitates the first Breeders' Cup post time be 10:20 P.D.T.
When Sherwood Chillingworth remembers the last time Santa Anita Park hosted the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships in 1993, the Oak Tree Racing Association executive vice president concludes the event has matured greatly in that decade span.
The Oak Tree Racing Association will be the host for the 2003 Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships at Santa Anita Park.
