Storm Cat, whose fee of $500,000 from 2002-07 was North America's highest, will stand for $300,000 in 2008 at the Young family's Overbrook Farm near Lexington. His new fee is equaled to that of Lane's End stallion A.P. Indy. The $300,000 is the highest fee announced so far this year for 2008.

Al and Saundra Kirkwood's Southern Africa took the overland route with Jon Court but proved to be much the best in winning the $300,000 Walmac Lone Star Derby (gr. III) for 3-year-olds Saturday in Grand Prairie, Texas. Trainer Mike Puhich says the Belmont Stakes (gr. I) could be next for the well-bred son of Cape Town.

Cape Town, who sired a 2003 champion and Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) winner in Bird Town, has undergone a fee change from the previously announced $20,000 to $25,000 for the 2004 breeding season.

The Cape Town colt, produced from the Sunny's Halo mare Sunday Morning, was purchased by Walnut Green Bloodstock from the consignment of Lakland LLC, agent.
