Because of an impending storm expected to dump several inches of snow on Northern Kentucky by post time, Turfway Park has canceled live racing for tonight, Friday, Dec. 6.
With the Susquehanna River Valley receiving a record nine inches of rain in the past 24 hours, live racing has been cancelled for Thursday night, Sept. 8, at Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course.
Add Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course in Grantville, Pa., to the list of tracks that have altered schedules due to the extreme heat. The track canceled its July 22 evening program.
High winds, with gusts reported between 45-55 miles per hour, forced the cancelation of live racing on Monday, Feb. 14, at Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course.
Sam Houston Race Park in Texas has canceled live night racing for Friday, Feb. 4, due to inclement winter weather.
Efforts by Oaklawn Park to resume live racing were dealt a setback by more snow in Arkansas on the morning of Feb. 4 and the tack has canceled racing for Feb. 5-6.
A winter blast, which has affected most of eastern half of the U.S., has kept temperatures at or below freezing since Tuesday has left Oaklawn Park unsuitable for racing.
For the second straight day, racing at Aqueduct Racetrack was canceled for Thursday, Feb. 3 due to the effects of the major storm that hit the Northeast.
An effort by Laurel Park to resume racing after two days of cancelations ended after the second race Friday, Jan. 28, due to unsafe track conditions.
Another winter storm has resulted in cancelation of live racing Thursday, Jan. 27, at Aqueduct in New York and Laurel Park in Maryland.
Turfway Park officials have canceled live racing Friday, again blaming the freeze-and-thaw cycle that affects the surface of the track as the culprit.
