Bohemia Dispersal Will Start at Keeneland

It's a sad good-bye. Bohemia Stable, the successful breeding and racing operation of the late Allaire du Pont, has announced it will completely disperse its horses -- 13 broodmares and weanlings. The horses will be consigned to auction over the next three months with Walnut Green as the agent.

Millionaire Shine Again Retired

Millionaire Shine Again, who just missed winning the Oct. 25 First Flight Handicap (gr. II) at Aqueduct by a neck after winning the previous two runnings, will head to breeder/owner Allaire du Pont's Woodstock Farm near Chesapeake City, Md., for her retirement.

Jerkens Hopes Shine Again Goes Out on Top

Trainer Allen Jerkens is hoping that Shine Again can successfully defend her title in Saturday's $150,000 First Flight Handicap (gr. II) at Belmont Park and exit the track with one more graded stakes win to her impressive career record.

Favored Shine Again Tops Vagrancy Cast

Shine Again, who has grinded her way to earnings of more than $1 million in 29 starts, gets some respect Sunday as the favorite in Belmont Park's $150,000 Vagrancy Handicap (gr. II). The Vagrancy tops a card that includes a pair of New York Stallion series stakes.

Fog-Cutting Shine Again Takes Genuine Risk

Bohemia Stable's Shine Again and jockey Jean-Luc Samyn bolted past heavy favorite Carson Hollow near the eighth pole and drew off to win Sunday's $145,000 Geniune Risk Handicap (gr. II) for fillies and mares at fog-shrouded Belmont Park.

Case for Carl

By Joe Hickey -- Out of the loop for too many years now, his hair is as white as a Lukas bridle and his titanium knees are more attuned to WD-40 than Absorbine. But at 85, he's still trim, alert, and enjoying life with Millie, his bride of 44 years. That grin--as wide and warm as a Nebraska prairie under an August morn--is still his trademark.
