Gross Increases at Arqana Autumn Sale

The Arqana autumn sale enjoyed upswings of 15.1% in gross revenue and 7.5% in average price Nov. 16 in France. Najaf, a 4-year-old son of Lost World brought the top price of €250,000 ($374,060 in U.S. funds) from Highflyer Bloodstock.

Market Upbeat at Arqana Autumn Sale

The market was upbeat at Arqana's autumn sale of horses in training at Saint-Cloud in France Nov. 17. The average price for the one-day auction (down from two in 2007) of 20,688 euros was almost the same as last year's 20,959-euro average. The 93 horses sold grossed 1,924,000 euros, which was down 6.3% from last year's total of 2,054,000 euros for 98 horses.

Records Broken at Tattersalls Horses in Training Sale

Just as at its three yearling sales in October, Tattersalls Autumn Horses In Training Sale--effectively the world's biggest exchange of used horses--posted a complete set of record figures in Newmarket from Oct. 27-30.
