Fantasticat Works at Churchill to Prep for Classic

Trainer Bobby Barnett insists it wasn't planned but admits it's an eerie coincidence his 2004 Breeders' Cup contender Fantasticat now occupies the stall at Churchill Downs that once housed Answer Lively, the horse he trained that won the 1998 Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I) and went on to be named 2-year-old champion.

Franks Estate to Offer 200 Mares in February

Alta Franks, the widow of John Franks, has begun the reorganization of her husband's Thoroughbred holdings. Mrs. Franks plans a reduction, but not a complete dispersal, beginning with the sale of about 200 broodmares at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Winter Mixed Sale Feb. 8-9 in Lexington.

Champion and Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I) winner Answer Lively died earlier this year of a heart attack at Ed Milligan Jr.'s Twin Oaks Training Center near Murchison, Texas.

First-Year Sire Answer Lively Experiencing Fertility Problems

Answer Lively, the 1998 Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I) winner and that year's Eclipse Award-winning 2-year-old male, is experiencing fertility problems in his first year at Hill 'n' Dale Farms near Lexington. Dr. George D. Mundy, the farm's general manager and resident veterinarian, said on Friday only one of the first 12 mares bred to Answer Lively has been pronounced in foal.

Answer Lively Retired to Hill 'N' Dale

Answer Lively, the champion juvenile colt of 1988 was who reported as retired in June, will stand in 2001 at John Sikura's Hill 'N' Dale Farm near Lexington.
