Nathan "Red" Scherr, a Baltimore builder who won the 1982 Preakness Stakes (gr. I) with Aloma's Ruler, died Nov. 21 of Parkinson's disease at Cherrywood Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Reisterstown. Md.
Monday, November 24, 2003Aloma's Ruler, who held the mantle of oldest living Preakness winner for 12 days, died June 21 at a farm in Illinois. He was 24.
