Masterson's homebred Sheets struck the front for jockey Robby Albarado at the quarter pole and drew away in the stretch for a 4 1/4-length upset of favored Sindy With an S in the $291,750 Azalea Breeders' Cup (gr. III) for 3-year-old fillies on Summit of Speed card at sloppy Calder Race Course Saturday.

Ownership Team Breaks Lone Star Win Mark

On the 52nd day of Lone Star Park's 67-date spring Thoroughbred season, the powerful ownership team of Sandy and Jerry Heflin of Rockwall, Texas, and Ywachetta and James Driver of Irving, Texas, won two races Friday night to bring their season total to 28 -- a new single-season win record by an owner at the Grand Prairie racetrack.

Trainer Bill Mott, the all-time leader in victories and stakes wins at Churchill Downs, hopes to wrap up the Louisville track's spring meet on Sunday by adding a victory in each column when he saddles favored Quite a Bride in a field of six older fillies and mares in Sunday's $150,000-added Locust Grove Handicap (gr. IIIT) on the turf.
