Dreadnaught Fights Bias in Sussex Stakes

Dreadnaught, a 7-year-old gelding with more than $600,000 in career earnings, holds a substantial class edge in the $100,000 Sussex Stakes on the Delaware Park turf course Saturday, but the confirmed closer will have to overcome a pronounced track bias to reach the winner's circle for trainer Thomas Voss.

Lawyer Ron Heads Salvator Mile

Lawyer Ron will look to add a fifth graded stakes victory to his resume when he takes on four others in the $150,000 Salvator Mile Handicap (gr. III) at Monmouth Park June 23.

Grade I Turf Mare Astra Euthanized

Astra, one of the top turf mares in the early part of this decade, was euthanized June 12 at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute near Lexington because of complications from colic.

Vacare Seeks Redemption in New York Stakes

Jon and Sarah Kelly's previously unbeaten Vacare, coming off a third-place finish in the May 28 Gamely Stakes (gr. IT) at Hollywood Park, will stretch out to 1-1/4 miles in her first start on Belmont Park turf when a field of eight fillies and mares goes postward in Saturday's running of the $250,000 New York Stakes (gr. IIT).
