Magna Unwilling to Fund Santa Anita Barn Project

Magna Entertainment Corp. is willing to spend tens of millions for its upscale commercial development, The Shops at Santa Anita, in the track parking lot, but nothing to fix up the dilapidated barn area, the California Horse Racing Board learned during its meeting in Sacramento May 22.

TVG to Air Special Edition of Pick Six Central

TVG, America's Horseracing Network, will air a special live edition of Pick Six Central May 22 at 6 p.m. PT / 9 p.m. ET (with multiple repeats) to preview the two-day $850,466 Pick Six carryover at Hollywood Park for the May 23 eight-race program.

Cauthen Joins Capital Play in Franchise Bid

Former jockey and Hall of Fame member Steve Cauthen, who became the youngest rider to win the Triple Crown when he rode Affirmed to sweep the three classic races as an 18-year-old in 1978, has joined the team of Capital Play, one of four bidders engaged in competition for the franchise rights to Aqueduct, Belmont Park, and Saratoga in New York.
