The Maryland Jockey Club announced May 14 it will honor the late 2006 Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro, his owners, Roy and Gretchen Jackson, his jockey Edgar Prado, and his surgeon Dr. Dean Richardson at Pimlico Race Course during Preakness Week.
Trainer Nick Zito said it's "all systems go" for Saturday's Preakness Stakes (gr. I) after C P West worked a half-mile at Belmont Park May 14. Meanwhile, Hard Spun, King of the Roxy, Xchanger, and Mint Slewlep all prepped for their run at the second jewel of the Triple Crown.
HorseRacing TV announced May 14 that Lane's End Farm will be the presenting sponsor of its comprehensive live coverage of Preakness Week May 17-19 from Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Md.
Trainer Carl Nafzger will be the featured guest on a special Preakness Stakes edition of HRTV's "Across The Board" show May 17.

Two defendants named in Jess Jackson's California lawsuit involving alleged horse sale fraud have reached separate settlement agreements with the horse owner, attorneys on both sides of the legal action have confirmed.
Jockey Jose Espinoza, injured in a racing accident at Belmont Park, suffered a dislocated right ankle with multiple fractures and will require surgery, according to his agent, Richard DeStasio.
Keeneland has scheduled the richest stakes program in its history, featuring five grade I stakes and a record $5.3 million in total stakes purses for its 2007 fall race meeting, held Oct. 5-27. The grade I Darley Alcibiades, Shadwell Turf Mile, Lane's End Breeders' Futurity, and Juddmonte Spinster highlight the meet.

The racing career of graded stakes winner Rush Bay ended when he apparently took a bad step on the Churchill Downs turf course on Saturday as he was closing in on an apparent victory in his season debut.
