Efforts by officials of Fasig-Tipton Kentucky to attract top young race fillies paid off with the Nov. 4 mixed sale getting the fall auction season off to a good start.
With strong out-of-state business leading the way, the Oak Tree Racing Association meet, which ended Nov. 4, posted significant gains in all sources mutuel handle over last year's figures. Out-of-state average daily handle was up 18% over last year and average daily total handle for the meet was up 9%.

One of the most-watched sectors of the fall mixed auction market is the sales record for broodmares in foal to stallions that stood their first seasons this year.
Last year's champion older female Fleet Indian is scheduled to sell in foal to Storm Cat on the opening day of the 2007 Keeneland November mixed sale. Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent, will consign the 6-year-old mare, who is believed to be carrying a colt based on fetal sexing, on behalf of her owner, Paul Saylor.
