'Lisa' is Sharp in Santa Ynez Victory

Sharp Lisa, the 9-10 favorite, wore down No Bull Baby in the stretch run and scored a 1 1/2-length victory in the $150,000 Santa Ynez Stakes (gr. II) for 3-year-old fillies on the Martin Luther King Jr. Day card at Santa Anita Park.

Horsemen: No Position Yet on Rebate Shops

The National Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association's board of directors will decide Jan. 18 whether to endorse an updated "white paper" on simulcasting, but it won't decide--at least for several months--its position on high-volume rebate operations.

CBS News to Feature Jockey Winkfield

African-American jockey Jimmy Winkfield, who won back-to-back runnings of the Kentucky Derby at the turn of the 20th century, is the subject of a feature on the CBS "Evening News" that will air today, Monday, Jan. 17.
