Fires Visits Arlington Winner's Circle for 37th Year

Hall of Fame jockey Earlie Fires, Arlington Park's all-time leading rider, won a the Chicago track for a record 37th season Sunday when he guided James Messineo's Major Rhythm to a rousing win in the eighth race of the afternoon.

Spring Star, Redattore Retired

Spring Star, winner of the Wilshire Handicap (gr. IIIT) in her last start at Hollwood Park on April 25, has been retired, trainer Richard Mandella said Wednesday from his Santa Anita headquarters. Mandella also confirmed that grade I winner Redattore is retired to and will be sent to stud.

Debut Winner Chandtrue Tries Stakes Company

Chandtrue, a sizzling winner in his racing debut at Hollywood Park, will make his second start in the $75,000-added Willard Proctor Memorial Stakes for 2-year-olds at five furlongs on Sunday, trainer Bob Hess Jr., confirmed Wednesday from his stable at Santa Anita.

Illinois Slaughterhouse Set to Open
