Well-Bred Fillies in Demand at Keeneland Sale

A 2-year-old daughter of Storm Cat and a 3-year-old Unbridled filly were both bought by Arch Bloodstock to top Tuesday's session of the Keeneland November breeding stock sale. The session average was up 36.7% and the median rose 50% over the comparable day one year ago.

Big Four Weekend at Churchill Downs Packed with Talent

The $1.2 million "Big Four Weekend" stakes races at Churchill Downs Nov. 25-27 have attracted an outstanding group of nominees that includes Perfect Drift and Colonial Colony, the last two winners of Churchill Downs' Stephen Foster Handicap (gr. "Smarty Jones Winning the Preakness 2004", an original oil painting, has been donated by artist Shawn Faust to the Thoroughbred Charities of America Stallion Season and Art Auction at Candyland Farm, which will be simulcast live to Lexington's Cross Gate Gallery Dec. 4.

Shaconage Breezes Toward Start in Cardinal

Shaconage tuned up for her run in Saturday's $150,000 Cardinal Handicap (gr. IIIT) with a good half-mile work Tuesday over Churchill Downs' Matt Win Turf Course. The Mitch Shirota-trained filly breezed four furlongs around the "dogs" in :50.60 over a course rated "good.

Honor in War Ready for River City

The Paul McGee-trained Honor in War turned in a sharp four-furlong work around the dogs Tuesday at Churchill Downs in preparation for Sunday's River City Handicap (gr. IIIT). The son of Lord at War covered the distance over "good" footing in :48.80 under jockey Bill Troilo.
