Decarchy Spoils Val Royal's Return

Decarchy rallied from mid-pack to win Saturday's $300,000 Frank E. Kilroe Mile Handicap (gr. IIT) in a blanket finish at Santa Anita. On the firm turf and under jockey Kent Desormeaux, Decarchy completed the mile in 1:34.04, a neck ahead of Sarafan, with Designed for Luck a head length farther back and a neck ahead of 6-5 favorite Val Royal.

Forest Secrets Ends Summer Colony's Win Streak in Rampart

Forest Secrets sat just off Summer Colony's right flank until the pair approached the quarter-mile pole in Saturday's $200,000 Rampart Handicap (gr. II). From there, Forest Secrets moved to the lead in the stretch en route to winning the 1 1/8-mile Gulfstream Park feature by three lengths as the even-money favorite.

San Rafael Report: Home Alone

Came Home pressed Werblin through moderate fractions then drew away in the stretch to win the $200,000 San Rafael Stakes (gr. II) by three lengths on Saturday at Santa Anita. Under Chris McCarron, Came Home completed the mile in 1:36.24 on a fast track to notch the victory in his first career attempt at a race run around two turns.

Stevens to Ride Governor Hickel in Swale Stakes

Marylou Whitney Stable's Governor Hickel worked five furlongs at Gulfstream Park Saturday in preparation for the $150,000 Swale Stakes (gr. III) on the Florida Derby (gr. I) undercard. Gary Stevens will pilot the Nick Zito trainee in the Swale, as well as the Zito-trained High Star in the Florida Derby.
