Day Will Ride Like A Hero in Belmont Stakes

Pat Day will ride Columbine Stable's Like A Hero in the June 8 Belmont Stakes. The son of Pleasant Colony has won three of four career races for trainer Beau Greely, including a victory in the Alydar Stakes May 23 at Hollywood Park. He arrived in New York Thursday.
War Emblem came out of his Wednesday workout at Churchill Downs in good shape and remains on track for his Triple Crown bid. "It took ut 10 minutes to catch him in the stall this morning," Baffert said. "It usually takes five minutes. War Emblem walked this morning and is scheduled to treturn to the track for a jog Friday morning.
Proud Citizen, second in the Kentucky Derby and third in the Preakness, galloped Thursday under exercise rider Stacey Maker. Trainer D. Wayne Lukas said the Gone West colt would have his final workout for the Belmont Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday.
Perfect Drift galloped two miles under jockey Joe Deegan Thursday in Louisville. "He went very well," said trainer Murray Johnson of the Dynaformer gelding. "He was very relaxed and we seem to be in good shape. Perfect Drift is slated to work Saturday at Trackside Louisville.
Wiseman's Ferry, possible for the Belmont, galloped 1 1/4 miles Thursday. Trainer Niall O'Callaghan said the son of Hennessy would work Sunday.
Sarava arrived at Belmont Park Wednesday after a flight from Louisville and walked Thursday morning.
