The business unit that served as the information technology group for The Jockey Club and a technology consultant for the Thoroughbred industry has become a wholly owned subsidiary of The Jockey Club.
The Jockey Club Technology Services is the latest modification resulting from The Jockey Club's corporate restructuring that was announced in August 2001. As part of that process, the racetrack software company formerly known as McKinnie Systems became InCompass, the entity that is building a centralized database and integrated communications network to enhance delivery of information, products, and services within the industry.
"Although our name and corporate structure have changed, we will continue to serve the wide-ranging technology needs of The Jockey Club family of companies and the variety of industry organizations who enlist our help in devising and implementing solutions for their own unique situations," said Robert Burch, president of The Jockey Club Technology Services.
The company traces back to the 1960s, when it was known as The Jockey Club Statistical Bureau. It was formed to computerize pedigree and performance records in order to simplify the task of compiling catalogue pages for horses sold at auction. In the past 20 years, the department played a pivotal role in the creation and launch of The Jockey Club Information Systems, Equibase, and InCompass. It has also served in consulting capacities for the NTRA Technology Task Force, the American Quarter Horse Association, and Weatherbys.
