King Midas Tops Emirates Sale In Dubai

King Midas, a winning 6-year-old son of Bluebird, brought the top price of 150,000 dirhams ($40,839) during the Thoroughbred portion of the Emirates Racing Association's horses in training sale Monday and Tuesday in Dubai. Bred in Great Britain, King Midas was produced from the Tina's Pet mare Ellebanna. He has finished first in three of 28 career starts.
In all, 154 horses were sold for a gross of 4,450,000 dirhams
($1,211,577) and an average of 28,896 dirhams ($7,867). The buy-back rate was 14.4%, with 26 of the 180 horses offered failing to find new homes. (Arabians were offered on Wednesday).
