A day after his 1 1/2-length win in Thursday's $75,000 Alydar Stakes at Hollywood Park the connections of Like a Hero say the son of Pleasant Colony is a probable entrant for the Belmont Stakes (gr. I).

"He came back in great shape and will probably go to the Belmont," said trainer Beau Greely Friday. "It's a classic. He's improved with distance every time. We've got to give it a shot."

Like a Hero won the 1 1/8-mile Alydar under Laffit Pincay Jr. for his first victory by a decisive margin. The margin of victory in his two other wins was a neck (one-mile maiden race) and a nose (1 1/16-mile optional claimer). Alydar runner-up World Light remains a maiden after two career starts, both second-place finishes.

Like a Hero is bred for the 1 1/2-mile distance though. Aside from sire Pleasant Colony, Like a Hero also has stamina influence Silver Hawk as his broodmare sire.
