Leading Distaff Earner Spain Returned to Training After Breeding

Spain, who became racing's all-time leading female earner when she won the May 3 Louisville Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. II), was bred May 15 to leading sire Storm Cat at William T. Young's Overbrook Farm near Lexington and returned three days later to trainer D. Wayne Lukas at Churchill Downs.

Owned by Prince Ahmed Salman's The Thoroughbred Corp., Spain has captured six stakes, including the 2000 Breeders' Cup Distaff (gr. I), and earned $3,304,244.
