True Direction Rallies For Victory In Hirsch Jacobs

Favored True Direction rallied from the outside on the turn and pulled away in the stretch for a 2 1/2–length victory in the $100,000 Hirsch Jacobs Stakes at Pimlico on Saturday. The 3-year-old son of French Deputy covered six furlongs in 1:10.90 while winning the first added-money event of his career. It was the third victory in four outings this year for True Direction, who did not race as a 2-year-old.

Down the backside, the race was a battle between City Sharpster, Incredible Carson, and It's a Monster. The early fractions were :25.53 and :46.91. It's a Monster held on to finish third, but the other two faded. Listen Here, the second choice in the betting, finished second, three-quarters of a length in front of It's Monster. It was another two lengths back to fourth finisher Private Opening.

True Direction is owned by Moreton Binn and Marisol Binn. Trained by Carlos Morales, he was ridden in the Hirsch Jacobs by Ramon Dominguez, who popped the colt with the whip right-handed approaching the wire. (Chart, Equibase)
