Curribot Euthanized at Age 25

New Mexico racing star Curribot, who raced from ages three through 14, was euthanized May 15 at Clements Ranch near Macintosh, N.M., because of the infirmities of old age. He was owned at the time of his death by John Bachechi.

Bred in Pennsylvania by Mrs. J.O. Burgwin, Curribot compiled a record of 37-20-20 from 139 starts and earned $491,527. Known in New Mexico as "The Chairman," Curribot (Little Current-- Ameribot, by Ribot) won five consecutive runnings of the Sunland Park Handicap (1984-88). Overall, he won 22 stakes and placed in 16 others.

Bachechi claimed Curribot for $2,500 in September of 1991 in what was his start because he wanted to make sure the gelding had a good home to live out his final days.
