Always a Classic Colt Tops Canadian Sale

Acting on behalf of a syndicate, trainer Roger Attfield paid CAN$320,000 (US$217,894) for an Always a Classic colt to top Tuesday's select yearling sale conducted by the Canadian Breeders Sales at Woodbine Racecourse. The colt, consigned by Windfields Farm, agent for Cara Bloodstock, was produced from the winning Blushing John mare Runaway Babe.

The sales company reported 173 yearlings were sold for CAN$7,527,900 (US$5,125,902), an average of CAN$43,514 (US$29,629). At the same sale one year ago, 149 horses averaged $34,540 (US$23,180) from a gross of $5,146,500 (US$3,453,816).
