The Kentucky Department of Agriculture has made recommendations to farmers to reduce the spread of disease and to limit the risk of agro-terrorism. To further publicize those recommendations the KDA is producing and distributing signs listing the suggestions. They include restricting vehicular traffic on farms, ensure all farm visitors are accompanied at all times, and report all suspicious activities to the authorities.

The outbreak of foot and mouth disease originally prompted these recommendations. The events of September 11 further emphasized the need for farmers to control access to their properties.
