Partner's Hero Represented by First Winner

Freshman sire Partner's Hero was represented by his first winner as a sire when Joanie's Smile won a maiden special weight race at Belmont Park Wednesday.
Joanie's Smile drew away in the stretch to win the five-furlong race by a 2 1/4 lengths in 1:00.12 on the fast track and under Jerry Bailey. The product of the Full Pocket mare Dear Janet is trained by Richard Dutrow Jr. for Jay Em Ess Stable. She was bred in Maryland by Milton Higgins III and Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Bowman.
Partner's Hero (Danzig -- Safely Home, by Winning Hit) won eight of 33 career starts, including the Kentucky Cup Sprint (gr. II) and a track-record equaling performance in the Hansel Stakes. His half-sister Safely Kept won the Breeders' Cup Sprint (gr. I). Partner's Hero stands in Maryland at Northview Stallion Station for a fee of $7,500.
