Coolmore Lexington Stakes (gr. II) runner-up Crimson Hero breezed five furlongs in 1:03 1/2 under exercise rider Jamie Sanders at Churchill Downs on Monday in preparation for the May 18 Preakness Stakes.
Other 3-year-olds on the Churchill work tab included Windward Passage, one of four horses excluded from the oversubscribed Kentucky Derby, who was timed in :49 1/5 for a half-mile, with jockey Donnie Meche up. Trainer Steve Asmussen said Windward Passage could run in the Sir Barton Stakes on the Preakness card. Another Asmussen trainee, Easyfromthegitgo, breezed seven furlongs in 1:27 4/5.
Peekskill, who finished third in the Florida Derby, breezed four furlongs in :48 2/5 at Churchill, sixth fastest time of 36 horses working that distance Monday.
At Keeneland, Florida Derby and Toyota Blue Grass Stakes runner-up Booklet worked five furlongs in 1:01.
