Fifth Largest Derby Crowd On Hand

The attendance at Kentucky Derby 128 is the fifth largest in history. At Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky., on Saturday, 145,033 patrons are on hand to witness a race in which seven betting interests are under 10-1. The weather is gorgeous, a bright sunny day with temperatures in the low '70s.

The record attendance was for the 100th running in 1974 when 163,628 attended. The second through fourth top attendance figures are for the past three years: 154,210 in 2001; 153,204 in 2000; and 151,051 in 1999.
