Holiday Runner (right) takes the Three Chimneys Juvenile on Derby Day at Churchill Downs.
Always one of the highlights on the Kentucky Derby Day card, the Three Chimneys Juvenile went to Holiday Runner, a Meadowlake filly trained by D. Wayne Lukas.

Heavily favored Posse was in the mix in the turn for home in the five furlong race, but Holiday Runner proved best under Jerry Bailey. Zavata, a first time starter, closed well to be second, with Posse holding on for third.

Owned by Stephen J. Barberino Jr.'s S J B Jr Stable, Holiday Runner broke her maiden in her first start April 7 at Keeneland.

Holiday Runner paid $11.20, $5.20 and $3.40 while covering the five furlongs in :57.71. Zavata, a length back, returned $12.80 and $6, and Posse, sent off at 3-5, paid $2.60.

Bred in Kentucky by Barry Ostrager, Holiday Runner is out of the Dixieland Band mare Dixie Holiday. (Chart, Equibase)
