Guided Tour Romps in Hall of Fame BC 'Cap

Morton Fink's Guided Tour stalked the early leaders and then rallied while three wide to win the $150,000 Hall of Fame Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. III) by 5 1/4 lengths Monday at Thistledown. Sent off as the 1-2 favorite, Guided Tour completed the 1 1/8 miles in 1:51.24 on a sloppy track. Sleight finished second, 1 1/2 lengths ahead of Desert Demon. Truluck, Little Lee, and Hustler completed the order of finish. Guided Tour returned $3, $2.40, and $2.10 and topped an exacta worth $16.80.
The win was the fourth in a row for Guided Tour (Hansel--Dancing Mahmoud, by Topsider), a 4-year-old bred by Woodlyn Farm Inc. The gelding earned $90,000 for the win, his seventh from 18 career starts. Trained by Niall O'Callaghan the winner was ridden to victory by Larry Melancon. (Chart, Equibase
