Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf (gr. IT) third-place finisher Spring Oak is entered in Friday's Directa Parseal Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket. Should she run, the daughter of Mark of Esteem will be making her 4-year-old debut and her first start for trainer Saeed bin Suroor and Godolphin.
"Spring Oak is a very interesting filly and we're looking forward to seeing her in action," racing manager Simon Crisford told Sporting Life. "There's every chance she'll run in the Dahlia, although we've still to finalize plans, and she's a very talented horse. I'm sure she's a filly who will progress further, and we're thinking about races like the Pretty Polly in Ireland and the Nassau at Goodwood."
Spring Oak raced under the colors of Sheikh Mohammed Al Maktoum last year while conditioned by Andre Fabre. She made two North American starts as a 3-year-old, finishing third both times, including the E.P. Taylor Stakes (Can-I) prior to her Breeders' Cup run. She won the Prix Cleopatre (Fr-III) last May prior to finishing fourth in Aquarelliste's French Oaks (Fr-I).
In Friday's race, seven rivals have entered to oppose Spring Oak in the 1 1/8-mile event. Among her rivals is Aldridge Racing Limited's Golden Silca, a group II winner who is unlikely to start after finishing fourth in Saturday's Attheraces Mile (Eng-II), won by Swallow Flight.
